I was thinking about the way PvP could work within Diablo 4 has me wondering about item clarity. Blizzard keep talking about the importance of silhouettes and the ability to identify an item by its silhouette alone. I'm wondering if they'll carry the same logic and take it to the conclusion that will be the removal of all cosmetic effects in PvP whether it's an option for the client side where players can decide which characters have transmogs and cosmetics or not.

Or, be it server-side where upon entering the PvP zone or fighting your cosmetics and transmogs are removed.

The reason this is important for clarity in PvP is because it is important to get a sense of the legendries or set items you opponent(s) wear (I believe both D3 designs set and legendaries are incorporated into the game but that's not an absolute certainty, but give me to assume that this is the case to prove the point).

If silhouettes of class are crucial, and so are the legendary and set silhouettes. If transmogs or cosmetics hide or obscure what your character wears, this could be detrimental to PvP with Diablo 4.

PvP is intense and responsive, so you must be aware at the moment's notice the capabilities of your opponent of and how you can best respond to that stimuli. Games such as League Of Legends do this best since the skills of all players are predetermined and when you select the champion whose 4 abilities are all it is able to, you will know when you first observe a champion's silhouette what they're capable of and that's all it takes to make PvP games fun and fun to learn and learn to master.
