I can't say that I am in agreement with this. I've not had the same experience, except that I had to shell out a little more for potions as the more severe hits are.

DPS is perfectly fine I'm able maintain a pace with the sorcs as well as Zerks in my HM static. Are they harmful? Are they good? I don't think so... I'd say we're pretty average players.

I'll say that they perform a lot worse with the gunslingers they have alts for than I did with my gunslinger alts of the same time, so this class definitely requires a lot of investment and harder to master, however when you're following the rules, gunslinger appears to be perfectly fine.

The only class that appears to be untouchable for me in regards to DPS is Deathblade however they may require more nerfs. My 1415 surge Deathblade has been able to do 1.1m DPS in a gunlancer/pally combat deskaluda. That is what I've topped in my 1445 GS in that particular fight. It's obvious that the number is different depending on how many surge crits you get however my idea is that comparing anything to the numbers of a deathblade is not a good comparison since they're tuned too much.

A different person on this thread talked about tripods, and I'd like to add that they're huge (especially those with rifle skills) for the amount of damage you can do. I have them all at level 4, which was much less than 7 gems at lvl 7 to install. I would not limit your DPS by waiting for items at level 5 to come out and use the job flawlessly with transfers.

Gunslingers don't have the ability to be competitive with many classes using only raw DPS using the target dummy, however they can compensate for it with uptime. When a boss gets away from the range, we shift to rifle techniques and never miss any second of our uptime. If we need to move our position for mech or use our skills at a shorter range, we can complete it quicker than other classes and return to DPSing quickly. If you're not making use of these skills that gunslingers can do better than other classes, then you will be behind in regards to DPS.

One last thing I'd like to suggest is to take the time to hunt. It's true that it's a thing to be pumped with buffs, but after a few hours it's amazing. I own two 1415 gs alternatives, one peacemaker and the other one is time to hunt.

The time to hunt is more enjoyable to play, but also allows me to cause more damage with it. I was worried that I'd lose my shotguns, but it makes more up for it by having greater mobility and speedier animations thanks to stacking speed. Furthermore it's way less expensive since very few people are using it. If you're making the switch to relic gear, and you've not done much with tripods, now is the ideal opportunity to test it.

It's possible it's possible that NA is just a waste of time and the reason why I'm able keep up is due to the fact that few players are able to fully exploit the capabilities of the "op" classes however for now I'm satisfied with where gunslinger stands with regards to DPS.
